Of course, the merger and adjustment between universities is only the first step. Taking universities as the center to drive regional development and revitalize the economy is the goal.
The state government’s development plan “The Future of Universities in Rhine-Palatinate” stipulates that universities should serve as centers for local scientific and social development.
Specifically, it requires universities to combine application-oriented scientific research with enterprises to improve innovation and market transformation capabilities, and support start-ups to enhance international influence and competitiveness.
In addition, the plan also specifically mentions dual system and vocational education. The state government believes that it should not only promote the transformation of science into the market, but also equip enterprises with suitable talents.
In other words, Rhine-Palatinate will use the state’s Mainz University, RPTU University of Technology, Koblenz University, FH and vocational education institutions to create a complete ecological chain from scientific research to talent training for enterprises.
