Three currently defunct nursing schools in the United States are suspected of issuing more than 7,600 fraudulent nursing diplomas between 2016 and 2021, and more than 20 people have been charged in connection with the sale of fraudulent diplomas from Florida-accredited nursing schools, which not only allowed beneficiaries to continue taking national nursing exams after obtaining their degrees but also allowed them to work as nurses in various states. The company has been accused of selling forged diplomas from Florida’s accredited nursing schools.
According to CBS, three schools in southern Florida, Siena College, Palm Beach School of Nursing, and Sacred Heart International Institute, have been accused of falsifying diplomas. Several people are now facing up to 20 years in prison after being charged by judicial authorities for allegedly participating in a scheme to sell fraudulent degrees and transcripts from Florida’s accredited nursing schools.

The documents show that many of those involved in the scheme came from out of state, including as far away as New York and New Jersey, and that the nurses with the fake degrees continued to work in various places, including Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Texas and elsewhere, most of them caring for children at home, working in assisted living facilities, or assisting with veterans’ affairs.
Those who received fake diplomas were able to go on to take the National Council of State Boards of Nursing exams and, after receiving their full licenses, were able to obtain jobs in different states in positions such as registered nurses (RNs), vocational nurses (LPNs), and vocational nurses (VNs).
The prosecution said that three of the masterminds involved in the case recruited people who wanted to obtain fake nursing certificates and then worked with nursing schools such as Siena College to produce and distribute forged and fraudulent diplomas and transcripts that were sold to thousands of people.
Jennifer Mensik Kennedy, president of the American Nurses Association, said she regretted these practices, “These actions undoubtedly undermine the ethical standards of the nursing profession and degrade the reputation of true nursing professionals everywhere. Nursing is a highly professional and ethical profession that requires rigorous lifelong education and training and cannot be achieved overnight.”
